Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda GT 1 of 25 'Hand Finished' Sealed

For many reasons, the Parmigiani Fleurier Tondagraph GT is an essential watch to the brand's recent success. The GT was the catalyst that birthed a newfound appreciation and fame for the independent brand. It was the perfect amalgamation of what the brand could accomplish and what the market wanted. The GT design pays homage to essential reference points in the PF historical catalog but does so in a way that allows it to have its own identity. This particular GT reference was the first modern Parmigiani I had the pleasure of owning and reinvigorated my PF collecting journey. 

When the original GT was announced, it was slated to be a 250-piece limited run. In the scheme of things, 250 pieces is not a large sum of watches for the world. However, this offering is even rarer. Prior to the public release of the Tonda GT, select retailers were allocated an exclusive Hand Finished Parmigiani Tondagraph GT limited to only 25 pieces worldwide. No announcements or press releases ever saw the light of day. The watches were quietly released to a small group of Parmigiani enthusiasts, allowing them a chance to own a piece of watchmaking history.

The offering we have here is one of those 25 original examples. Visually the 25 "HF" variants bear no distinction from the 250 GT Pieces offered to the general public. It is not until you turn the watch over to the business end of the GT that you see the letters "HF" inscribed around the case back. Here you can appreciate the Calibre PF043, which has been painstakingly assembled, beveled, chamfered, and black-polished by hand.

In the not-so-distant future, I believe that the original 250 pieces created for the initial launch of the GT will become highly collectible. The first accelerant to this is its recent discontinuation. The example we have offered here is exceptional because it is one of the first 25 hand-finished models and remains single-sealed in new condition. Watch enthusiasts will appreciate this level of condition for such a piece as this is the preferred condition of highly collectible Patek Philippe watches.
