HISTORY

Slightly reduced in size, retaining the emblematic wide dial opening, and hosting a new in-house automatic movement, the Tonda PF Automatic 36mm is the brand’s affirmative response to the many requests for a version of this timepiece in a format adapted to a slenderer wrist. It also speaks to the growing demand for smaller sizes and the "vintage" flavor they evoke. The Tonda PF Automatic is the purest embodiment of the brand’s spirit. Its assertive identity is expressed through complimentary values of design discretion, a wide dial opening, subtle chromatic variations, and uncompromising finishes. All these values persist in the new Tonda PF Automatic, reinvented today with a diameter of 36mm.

THE BRAND

The Parmigiani Fleurier brand - a watch-making adventure that transcends the mundane - was created in Fleurier in 1996 and was guided by the passion of a man who remained faithful to the very essence of the watchmaker. Michel Parmigiani, master horologist, renowned restorer, and talented creator of mechanical time-keepers, dedicates his knowledge, which has been enriched by past and present teachings, to the benefit of the brand.

The Sandoz Family Foundation, who had tasked a young Michel Parmigiani to lead the restoration of their horological artifact collection, became interested in bringing Parmigiani's masterful work to the consumer market. In 1996, with the backing of the Sandoz Foundation, Parmigiani Fleurier was able to fit out its manufacturing workshops with the means to produce exceptionally high-quality goods. In less than 10 years, it achieved near complete vertical integration, and the industrial equipment deployed constitutes one of the rarest and most complete manufacturing workshops in Switzerland. The very essence of haute horology, such as attention to detail or the beauty of the embellishment of a simple or highly complicated movement, is the subject of great attention at Parmigiani Fleurier and is the reason for its international recognition.

Consciously curated

Since 1994, our values have always been to present and curate genuine and authentic products for our customers. At Greenwich Time, we are committed to carrying only products we would proudly purchase and own ourselves. With many fantastic choices on the market, we let our own tastes determine what we carry here in the shop.

This Parmigiani Fleurier meets our discerning standards for quality and style.

The Beginning

Michel Parmigiani, a young watchmaker and restorer, opens "Mesure et Art du Temps,” a traditional workshop devoted to restoring antique timepieces.

The sandoz family foundation

Parmigiani Fleurier is created and officially inaugurated at the Beau-Rivage Palace in Lausanne on May 29, 1996

birth of the manufacture

The company embarks on a journey to become a true manufacture. In May of 1999, the Sandoz Family Foundation acquires Les Artisans Boîtiers, a workshop that melds precision manufacturing with manual craftsmanship to produce high-end watch cases.

Acquisition of Atokalpa and Elwin

Parmigiani Fleurier watchmaking center expands with the integration of Atokalpa, a manufacturer of trains, pinions, and microgears. By 2005, the company is able to industrially produce balance wheels and springs, pallet forks, and escapement wheels. Elwin, a leader in precision bar turning, joins the same year, supplying all the hardware for mechanical movements.

Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier is born

In January 2003, Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier is created to furnish high-end movements for Parmigiani Fleurier watches at the highest level of technicality and finishing. Its research and development department is tasked with producing a vast range of complicated calibers.

Creation of Quadrance et Habillage

In December 2005, the Parmigiani Fleurier watchmaking center expands with the creation of Quadrance et Habillage, a specialist maker of watch dials with unmatched expertise in guilloché épargnage, electroplating, transfers, and engraving.

Michel Parmigiani’s 60th

The ultra-slim Tonda 1950 is released in 2010; introducing the PF700 series of calibers. Its name evoking the year of the founder’s birth and its design embodying his most fundamental aesthetic principles.

Unveiling the Hippologia

The maison unveils a table clock and automaton representing a mare and her foal galloping across the desert. This unique piece combines the expert craftsmanship of watchmaking, automaton creation, crystal work, and numerous decorative arts.

THE TONDA GT

Parmigiani Fleurier launches the Tonda GT. That same year, the maison wins the Innovation Prize at the Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix with the Tonda Hijri Perpetual Calendar, the first wristwatch based on the Islamic lunar calendar.
