Parmigiani Fleurier

Tonda PF Automatic 36mm "Silver Sand"

$22,600.00
$22,600.00

Slightly reduced in size while retaining the emblematic wide dial opening, and hosting a new in-house automatic movement, the Tonda PF Automatic 36mm is the brand's response to the demand for a classically sized format adapted for those who prefer smaller watches.

This version of the Tonda PF speaks to the growing demand for smaller sizes and the "vintage" flavor they evoke. In this form, we get a rare look at what an integrated steel watch might have looked like from the Parmigiani Fluerier brand if it had produced watches during the segment's heyday in the early 70s.

A detailed case profile is forged from steel and platinum with its distinctive Tonda teardrop lugs and knurled bezel; the Tonda PF Automatic 36mm is unmistakably Parmigiani Fleurier from every angle. The curvature of the case compliments the wrist's natural shape and drapes like a well-made suit in a very ergonomic fashion.

Housed in the Tonda PF Automatic 36mm is an all-new automatic movement made especially for this reference. Measuring 25.6mm x 3.9mm (just 0.9mm thicker than the micro-rotor PF703), this 179-part in-house caliber beats at 28,800vph (4Hz) and bears a power reserve of 60 hours. Instead of an off-center micro-rotor, the PF770 relies on a central 22k gold skeletonized rotor, which is shared in the other automatic Tonda PFs in the collection. The sapphire case back reveals the Côtes de Genève finishings on the bridges, the beveled edges, and the polished and sandblasted areas of the skeletonized gold rotor.

The Parmigiani Fleurier brand - a watch-making adventure that transcends the mundane - was created in Fleurier in 1996 and was guided by the passion of a man who remained faithful to the very essence of the watchmaker. Michel Parmigiani, master horologist, renowned restorer, and talented creator of mechanical time-keepers, dedicates his knowledge, which has been enriched by past and present teachings, to the benefit of the brand.

The Sandoz Family Foundation, who had tasked a young Michel Parmigiani to lead the restoration of their horological artifact collection, became interested in bringing Parmigiani's masterful work to the consumer market. In 1996, with the backing of the Sandoz Foundation, Parmigiani Fleurier was able to fit out its manufacturing workshops with the means to produce exceptionally high-quality goods. In less than 10 years, it achieved near complete vertical integration, and the industrial equipment deployed constitutes one of the rarest and most complete manufacturing workshops in Switzerland. The very essence of haute horology, such as attention to detail or the beauty of the embellishment of a simple or highly complicated movement, is the subject of great attention at Parmigiani Fleurier and is the reason for its international recognition.
