FROM THE CURATOR
For many reasons, the Parmigiani Fleurier Tondagraph GT is an important watch to the brand and myself. The GT was the catalyst that birthed this newfound appreciation and fame for the brand in recent years. It was the perfect amalgamation of what the brand could do and what customers wanted. The GT design paid homage to essential reference points in the PF catalog that came before it but did so in a way that allowed it to have its own identity. This particular reference was also the first modern Parmigiani that I had the pleasure of owning and reinvigorated my PF collecting journey.
In the not-so-distant future, I believe that the original 250 pieces created for the initial launch of the GT will become highly collectible. However, this offering is not one of those pieces. There was a time before the general release of the GT when past Parmigiani customers were given a chance to own a piece of watch-making history. 25 Hand Finished Parmigiani Tondagraph GTs were quietly released to only a select group of Parmigiani enthusiasts. The offering we have here is one of those 25 original examples. Visually the 25 "HF" variants bear no distinction from the 250 GT Pieces offered to the general public. It is not until you turn the watch over to the business end of the GT that you see the letters "HF" inscribed around the case back. Here you can appreciate the Calibre PF043, which has been painstakingly assembled, beveled, chamfered, and black-polished by hand.
This piece is even more outstanding because it remains SEALED and in brand-new condition. Watch enthusiasts will appreciate this level of condition for such a piece as this is the preferred condition of highly collectible Patek Philippe watches.

THE BRAND
The Parmigiani Fleurier brand - a watch-making adventure that transcends the mundane - was created in Fleurier in 1996 and was guided by the passion of a man who remained faithful to the very essence of the watchmaker. Michel Parmigiani, master horologist, renowned restorer, and talented creator of mechanical time-keepers dedicates his knowledge, which has been enriched by past and present events, to the benefit of the brand. In 1996, the Sandoz Family Foundation actively became involved in Parmigiani's development, thereby allowing the first watch collections to see the light of day. In less than a decade, Parmigiani Fleurier was able to fit out its manufacturing workshops with the means to produce exceptionally high-quality goods. With its complete vertical alignment, the industrial equipment deployed constitutes one of the rarest and most complete manufacturing workshops of top-quality watches in Switzerland. The very essence of top-quality horology, such as attention to detail or the beauty of the embellishment of a simple or highly complicated movement, is the subject of great attention at Parmigiani Fleurier and is now the reason for its international recognition.

Elwin, a leader in precision bar turning, joins the same year, supplying all the hardware for mechanical movements.
