The Kalpagraphe Chronomètre Titanium is an outlier in what we have come to expect from the Parmigiani. Big, bold, and futuristic are not the words commonly associated with the classical and nuanced brand printed on its dial. This dichotomy makes the Kalpagraph Chronomètre a wonder in the PF catalog.
My curiosity and interest peak when a brand produces something outside the limits of its comfort: no restraints, no boundaries, a newly reimagined watch with all new style elements. The design language that Parmigiani has made consistent through the years could not be more removed from the avant-garde, techno-modern Kalpagraph Chronomètre. This watch could easily wear a moniker like MB&F or Richard Mille and pass without a second thought.
Housed in the Kalpagraph Chronomètre is the PF362, an offshoot of the flagship caliber PF361 (that movement is only made in solid gold). Thanks to the groundwork laid by the 361, this 362 enjoys a fully integrated column wheel chronograph complication and a high beat frequency of 5hz or 36,000vph.
This watch will maintain its one-off status as a piece that imagines a wholly different Parmigiani Fleurier brand from the one we have today.
After considering all of the facts, it appears this watch hails from an alternate reality version of Parmigiani Fleurier, where it became a cyberpunk futurist watch company.
