HISTORY
The highly acclaimed Tonda PF family introduces an entirely new range of timepieces with the Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF Skeleton. This unique novelty has been stripped of its dial to reveal the caliber PF777. The main plate has been hand skeletonized and beveled to perfection. In addition, the movement bridges are galvanized with a NAC coating. This NAC alloy is from the platinum family of metals which contains rhodium and osmium. This treatment is responsible for the dark grey color of the main plate.
The monochromatic look of the movement is accentuated by the lack of traditional jewel bearings, typically made of rubies. Instead, Parmigiani watchmakers used zirconium jewels to achieve the colorless look of the bearings to not distract from the beauty of the movement.
What is unusual about this offering is that it is self-winding, meaning the wearer's movement will supply power to the watch. Most skeletonized watches are wound by hand, further separating this piece from the norm. The PF777 is equipped with a full-sized rotor mass in 22k rose gold that has been open-worked. This oscillating weight includes a floating "PF" logo set in sapphire at its center.
The Tonda PF line marries design elements from Parmigiani's history. Some of these elements include the teardrop-shaped lugs of the Kalpa, and the distinctive coined edge bezel, which can be seen in the earliest examples of the Toric Memory time, Michael Parmigiani's first wrist-watch from 1996.

THE BRAND
The Parmigiani Fleurier brand - a watch-making adventure that transcends the mundane - was created in Fleurier in 1996 and was guided by the passion of a man who remained faithful to the very essence of the watchmaker. Michel Parmigiani, master horologist, renowned restorer, and talented creator of mechanical time-keepers, dedicates his knowledge, which has been enriched by past and present teachings, to the benefit of the brand.
The Sandoz Family Foundation, who had tasked a young Michel Parmigiani to lead the restoration of their horological artifact collection, became interested in bringing Parmigiani's masterful work to the consumer market. In 1996, with the backing of the Sandoz Foundation, Parmigiani Fleurier was able to fit out its manufacturing workshops with the means to produce exceptionally high-quality goods. In less than 10 years, it achieved near complete vertical integration, and the industrial equipment deployed constitutes one of the rarest and most complete manufacturing workshops in Switzerland. The very essence of haute horology, such as attention to detail or the beauty of the embellishment of a simple or highly complicated movement, is the subject of great attention at Parmigiani Fleurier and is the reason for its international recognition.
