SQ 100 Chronograph "Salmon"

$500.00
$500.00

This rare Seiko SQ 100 Ref. 7T32-5A09 Quartz Alarm Chronograph possesses an ever-sought-after salmon-colored dial encased in a square steel case. This distinct and unique aesthetic carries a very 80's flavoring remenicent of the era. The left chronograph registers feature a textured silver pattern against the highly saturated base dial. The black 'lumed' appliques give contrast to the hour indicators making this a highly legible timekeeper. Combining these design elements creates an elaborate, sophisticated dial with depth and visual interest.

All examples have a stunning peach/salmon dial that harkens back to the design style of the late ’80s. This color would have been considered a faux pas over the last few decades, but it has become sought after in recent years. These Seiko SQ-100s were paired with their original burgundy leather straps, but we have outfitted them with a black leather strap to be included with the purchase. This combination allows the watch to learn more towards modernity with a cleaner look overall.

Seiko is a company that was established by Kinato Hattori, a young entrepreneur, over 130 years ago in central Tokyo. Initially, the company sold and repaired watches and clocks. Eleven years later, Kinarto bought a factory in Tokyo and produced his first clock in 1982, naming the factory Seikosha. The name Seiko means exquisite, minute, or successful in Japanese, and the name Seikosha or house is a fitting name for what would come in the years ahead.

After producing wall clocks and expanding into pocket watches for twenty-one years, Kinarto introduced Japan's first wristwatch, the Laurel. Although the company could only produce 30-50 watches per day at the time, it had already established a reputation for innovation.

Today, after more than 100 years of innovation, Kinato Hattori's company is still committed to achieving perfection, just as its founder always did.
