Santos 100 Ref. 2744 (Factory Diamonds)

$35,000.00
$35,000.00

Reference 2744 is an exceptionally rare piece. Originally sold in the early 2000s, this white gold Cartier Santos 100 is diamond set in a very unusual arrangement for the Santos line. Eight round diamonds of the highest quality replace the screw heads typically on the bezel. Additional diamonds are channel set around the outer perimeter of the bezel step and the crown guards. The final diamond is inlaid into the crown, replacing the sapphire cabochon, which is more typical for the model.

Louis Cartier created the Santos watch in 1904, sealing his friendship with the aviator of the same name. The famous aviator's wish was granted: he could check the time while flying. The dial's rounded angles and exposed screws made this model an iconic timepiece. The century of the watch was celebrated with a special Anniversary 1904-2004 Edition.

Cartier is a French luxury goods conglomerate that designs, manufactures, distributes, and sells jewelry, leather goods, and watches. Founded by Louis-François Cartier (1819–1904) in Paris in 1847, the company remained under family control until 1964. The company is headquartered in Paris and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Swiss Richemont Group. Cartier operates more than 200 stores in 125 countries, with three Temples (Historical Maisons) in London, New York, and Paris.
Cartier is regarded as one of the most prestigious jewelry manufacturers.

Cartier has a long history of sales to royalty. King Edward VII referred to Cartier as "the jeweler of kings and the king of jewelers." For his coronation in 1902, Edward VII ordered 27 tiaras and issued a royal warrant to Cartier in 1904. Similar warrants soon followed from the courts of Spain, Portugal, Serbia, Russia, and the House of Orléans.
