The Parmigiani brand introduces a world-first, two-timezone/rattrapante timepiece with the Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF GMT. This unique novelty showcases Parmigiani's ingenuity and dedication to innovation. A rose gold hour hand is set co-axially below the white gold hour hand and only reveals itself when the wearer activates the dual time function. When this function is not in use, the Tonda PF GMT is a simple and elegant time-only watch for everyday enjoyment.

When crossing time zones, a press of the pusher at seven o'clock advances the white gold hour hand forward in one-hour increments to match the time zone you’ve traveled to, while the 18k rose gold hour hand remains in its original position, tied to your home time. Once you return home, engage the 18k rose gold mono-pusher at three o'clock, and the white-gold hand will fly back to its place above the rose gold hand, corresponding to your home time. The way the GMT function is executed allows this complication to be practical and intuitive without distracting from the beauty of the watch.

The Tonda PF line marries design elements from Parmigiani's history. Some of these elements include the teardrop-shaped lugs of the Kalpa, and the distinctive coined edge bezel, which can be seen in the earliest examples of the Toric Memory time, Michael Parmigiani's first wrist-watch from 1996.

The Parmigiani Fleurier brand - a watch-making adventure that transcends the mundane - was created in Fleurier in 1996 and was guided by the passion of a man who remained faithful to the very essence of the watchmaker. Michel Parmigiani, master horologist, renowned restorer, and talented creator of mechanical time-keepers, dedicates his knowledge, which has been enriched by past and present teachings, to the benefit of the brand.

The Sandoz Family Foundation, who had tasked a young Michel Parmigiani to lead the restoration of their horological artifact collection, became interested in bringing Parmigiani's masterful work to the consumer market. In 1996, with the backing of the Sandoz Foundation, Parmigiani Fleurier was able to fit out its manufacturing workshops with the means to produce exceptionally high-quality goods. In less than 10 years, it achieved near complete vertical integration, and the industrial equipment deployed constitutes one of the rarest and most complete manufacturing workshops in Switzerland. The very essence of haute horology, such as attention to detail or the beauty of the embellishment of a simple or highly complicated movement, is the subject of great attention at Parmigiani Fleurier and is the reason for its international recognition.

OUR PERSPECTIVE

ALBERT TREVINOSENIOR CURATOR

Thoughts on the Tonda PF GMT Rattrapante:

"One of the most impressive elements of the Tonda PF GMT is its proportions. At 10.4mm thin and 40mm in diameter, the dimensions are outstanding for a watch with such a complex function. The Tonda PF GMT creates a beautiful dynamic between a strong visual presence and its understated elegance, making it a joy to wear."
